about

originally released as digital on Mikroton Digital (Russia)

"I wonder what they want," he said at last. "That fellow has already been here. Why did they send him to me? If they want to know what I'm doing all they have to do is read it on the screen, they don't even need to leave the house. They make mistakes. They have the power but they make mistakes. I never make any, that's my trump card. Hoffka!" he said. He shook his long hands before his forehead." The bitch! Hoffka! Paffka! Suffka! Do you want any more?"
— Jean-Paul Sartre "The Room"

Ilia Belorukov and Kurt Liedwart work together since 2009, they used to combine exquisite and fragile saxophone playing with sinewaves, field recordings and quiet noises, sometimes Kurt Liedwart dropped his instruments, electronics and laptop, in favor of working with objects and space. “Sufka” is the last installment in the series of releases on Mikroton Digital. It was recorded during the duo’s tour in Lisbon in “Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa” in very special circumstances.
Ernesto Rodrigues: Kurt, unfortunately, we have to cancel today’s concert because there’s no electricity in the venue.
Kurt Liedwart: We can play without electricity, I’m not so lovingly attached to my instruments, I can play with objects, body, and space.
In half an hour we were already in the car going to the gallery without electricity where this concert was recorded.
